This week we will be discussing Microsoft Edge features to use! Starting at Edge's reader capabilities and going all the way to how to use the collections tool!

Reading on Edge

Microsoft Edge’s Reading Aloud feature provides a convenient way of listening to web content. Equipped with advanced text-to-speech capabilities, it transforms written text on webpages, PDFs, and other documents into spoken words. This creates a hands-free experience perfect for multitasking, accessibility, or simply giving your eyes a break. Users can choose different voices and adjust the speed to suit their preferences. To activate this feature, simply go to the toolbar, click on the three dots, then the “Read Aloud” button (could be under "More Tools"), and the browser will immediately start reading the text from your screen aloud. If you don't want the whole page read aloud you can also highlight text and right-click.

Microsoft Edge's Immersive Reader is a powerful feature designed to enhance the reading experience by simplifying web pages and providing customizable reading settings. When activated, it removes unnecessary distractions such as ads and sidebars, presenting a clean, focused view of the text. Users can adjust the font size, text spacing, and even the background color to suit their preferences, making it easier to read for extended periods. This combination of features aims to improve concentration, comprehension, and access to information for users of all ages and reading abilities. Simply highlight the section of text needed, right-click and click

Collections

Microsoft Edge's Collection feature allows users to easily save, organize, and access their favorite web content. By simply clicking on the Collections button (three dots in the top right corner), users can gather links, images, text snippets, and other items of interest from the web, creating curated collections tailored to their needs. This tool is particularly useful for research, shopping, and project planning because all your research is in one place! Additionally, Collections can be shared with others or exported to Excel or Word which can be extremely helpful. The intuitive drag-and-drop interface, combined with the ability to add notes and comments to the collection, makes Collections a powerful and user-friendly tool for managing online information. Take a Screenshot in Edge

I know many of us already use the snipping tool in our daily lives, but when in Edge the Screenshot tool might prove to be superior. The screenshot feature allows users to capture all or part of a webpage quickly and easily. With this feature, you can capture full-page screenshots of the entire webpage rather than just one area, or select the specific content you need. Once a screenshot is taken, it can be edited using basic tools such as cropping, highlighting, and adding annotations directly within the browser. To take a screenshot, simply click the three dots in the toolbar and then Screenshot or press Ctrl + Shift + S. The captured image can be saved directly to your device, copied to the clipboard, or shared via email or social media. This feature is especially useful for creating visual documentation, sharing content with others, or simply saving information for later reference.
