These keyboard shortcuts will change your life!


General Window Shortcuts

These keyboard shortcuts may have been around since the dawn of time (or at least computers) but they continue to make users lives easier and more efficient:

Shortcut

What it does...

Ctrl + A

Selects all text in a document.

Ctrl + C

Copies selected text.

Ctrl + X

Cuts selected text.

Ctrl + V

Pastes selected text at the cursor.

Ctrl + Z

Undoes your last action.

Ctrl + End

Moves to the end of the document.

Ctrl + Home

Moves to the beginning of your document or file.

Ctrl + Y

Repeats your last action

Ctrl + Shift + Right (left)

Selects the entire word to the right or left.

Ctrl + S

Saves changes to your document or file.


Virtual Desktop Shortcuts

Virtual Desktop is a feature where you can create multiple desktop screens and switch between them. This feature is entirely helpful for when you have so many windows or apps open you can't keep track of them all. You create separate desktops that have their own apps and windows. When you're not using it just push it to the side.


The Shortcut

What it does...

Windows Key + Ctrl + D

Creates a new virtual desktop and switches to it.

Windows Key + Tab

Opens task view to display all virtual desktops. Switch desktops at the bottom of the screen.

Windows Key + Ctrl + left (right) arrow

Switches to the virtual desktop to the left or right.

Windows Key + Ctrl + F4

Closes the current virtual desktop.


Microsoft Edge Shortcuts

Microsoft Edge comes with a plethora of shortcuts for users to use. All of which are there to make life easier.

Shortcuts

What it does...

Ctrl + D

Save the current page as a favorite.

Alt + D

Selects the URL in the address bar.

Ctrl + F

Opens a search bar to find specific text.

Ctrl + N

Opens a new window.

Ctrl + O

Opens a file from a users computer in Edge.

Ctrl + P

Print current page.

Ctrl + T

Open a new tab.

Ctrl + Shift + U

Start or stop a Read Aloud.

Ctrl + Tab

Switch to the next tab.

Alt + Left Arrow

Go to the last web page.

Alt+ F4

Close current window.

F11

Enter full screen.


Miscellaneous Windows Shortcuts

Here are some very important shortcuts every user should know when working.

Alt + Tab

Switches form one open window to another.

Windows Key + L

Locks your PC

Windows Key + E

Opens File Explorer.

Windows Key + M

Minimizes all open windows.

Windows Key

Opens the Start menu

Windows Key + I

Opens the setting screen.

Windows Key + S

Opens the search tool.
